My strategy with codex's has always been to stall them until they are the last enemy in the currently revealed pod of enemies because of their cloning ability upon taking damage, and spreading our soldiers because of their psionic bombs, basically eating a turn due to disabling my weapons and forcing movement. Unless is have an auto loader, apparently those load after the disable so, pretty neat counter. Unless I have a ripjack soldier to kill her instantly after the shadow chamber is made

I watch Drifters challenge runs all the time and even after years and years someone with prolific knowledge of the game is learning new things, new edge cases especially, on like every challenge run video.

If you had taken remote start, you’d have killed that shield bearer by blowing up the forklift. 12 damage. ALWAYS take remote start as that never reveals you. Big damage, keep concealment.

OMG…Grenade the mech on the roof first. Shreds armor, removes overwatch, and adds fall damage. Usually I admire your cautious tactics, but that was a major screw-up. I was literally screaming at the screen. You could have set that mech up for a kill shot from Munchie with ONE grenade launch to the roof and still had all the other guys’ actions you wasted on that mech…

Also getting grabbed by the snakes tongue will trigger any enemy overwatch that may be active, I've actually lost a soldier to being grabbed and shot in from enemy overwatch as a result

This game made me soo mad I had to search for people to share the feeling of frustration. Good game.

Salvo is much better than hail of bullets, it allows you to shoot a grenade or use a heavy weapon and shoot in the same turn. This means you can remove cover and fire at the enemy. Hail of bullets is just meh, you should equip superior scope anyway on all grenadiers so they should always have at least 85% even 100% hit

the part about the game pushing you to do certain things quickly, really resonated with me. I know it pushed me to do a story mission that i wasn't ready for, and I got overwhelmed. I was kind of just looking at the home base screen and, not knowing what to do, just accepting its nudges. that resulted in a lot of frustration.

Call it a personal flaw but i can never go past Haywire Protocol. Im a sucker for turning enemies against each other in games, and I always get a kick when enemies who thought they were safe behind cover start getting slammed by their own mec. Especially when they spend their turn fighting back!

Wish I knew about flashbangs doing all that unwritten stuff, like stopping mind control. the game only describes enemy hit chance being affected. Also I've never used mimic beacons. Going to try that one next game. Thanks for the helpful video :)

What happens if you kill the chosen out side of there stronghold?

Not new to strategy or difficulty. Xcom 2 has neither of those things. it's an unbalanced bug ridden horribly designed and terribly programed mess. From enemies knowing exactly where you are even in concealment, to missing 90%+ accuracy shots over and over and over and over and over again in a row, to the game breaking its own rules just to f-ck with you. This is not how a strategy game, or any game for that matter, works. I'd blame incompetence but there's just too much garbage for this not to be intentional.

as someone who figured it out after some time of going back on saves, I find this video actually a very interesting analysis, I didn't know the enemies were planned to be this way, I always thought my strategy was just a play style that matched how I like to play most games... also, Sectopods and MECs are still a big pain in the ass if you can't hack them
